Detroit Lions GM Bob Quinn met with the
traveling media throng from the NFL owners meetings in Arizona on Monday. Among
the many topics the GM touched upon was prized free agent acquisition Trey Flowers.
The defensive
lineman earned major praise from Quinn, who cited his
familiarity with the Patriots background and Flowers’ ability to play all over
the defensive formation as major reasons why the Lions zeroed in specifically
on him in free agency.
“Scheme
fit, culture fit,” Quinn stated. “Great player. Great person. Feel he’s going to
be a 3-down player for us and really increase the play across the line at
multiple positions.”
The Lions inked Flowers to a $90 million
contract with $56 million guaranteed. That’s a hefty commitment but one Quinn
and the Lions appear to believe is well worth the money.
