IOWA CITY, Iowa - The National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Hall
of Fame announced today the names on the 2022 ballot for induction into the
College Football Hall of Fame. It included two legendary Hawkeye players.
Offensive
lineman Robert Gallery and tight
end Dallas Clark were up
for vote after several years of not hearing their names called.
Andre Tippett and Bob Stoops were elected into the 2021 Class.
Clark earned unanimous First Team
All-American laurels and won the Mackey Award as the nation's best tight end as
a senior in '02. Gallery was named a consensus First Team All-American and
recipient of the 2003 Outland Trophy as a senior. They teamed up as key
contributors on the '02 Big Ten Championship squad that reached the Orange
Bowl.
Howard
Jones ('51), Duke Slater ('51), Nile Kinnick ('51), Gordon Locke ('60), Eddie
Anderson ('71), Aubrey Devine ('73), Slip Madigan ('74), Cal Jones ('80), Alex
Karras ('81), Randy Duncan ('97), Chuck Long ('99), Forest Evashevski ('00),
Hayden Fry ('03) and Larry Station ('09) are the other Hawkeyes elected to the
Hall.
