Grid Bits

Iowa's Kirk Ferentz is one of the top five coaches in the nation, and now he'll be paid that way. This season he'll make $3.24 million, including bonuses. His new annual salary will be $2.84 million -- the $1.44 million he was paid under his old deal, plus $350,000 he now will get quarterly. Interestingly, the new deal did not add any years to the old deal; Ferentz's contract still runs out June 30, 2012.
